Why do you only realize something or someone’s worth once you no longer have it?

This must be the secret to life. Knowing how to value and appreciate what you have before it’s entirely too late. Is it because we get comfortable? Is it because once we have something for so long it begins to lose it’s value in our eyes? Is it because we feel we no longer have to work for it? What causes the loss of appreciation?

It really isn’t that difficult to appreciate the little things someone does for you. Nor is it difficult to appreciate the big things. So why do we stop appreciating?

Today, Stop and take time to note the people you truly appreciate in your life. Then, don’t go around telling them. Do something that shows your appreciation for them being in your life.

John F Kennedy once said, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.
